Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"This Timex Peanuts Quartz watch is great value for money. I like the fact that it is 40mm in high quality stainless steel with the whole Peanuts Crew on the reverse side of the watch. I like the easy to read face with green hands and green seconds hand and green Arabic numbers. With Peanuts carrying a golf club with four “Woodstocks” sat on it in the 6-O-Clock position. I also like the “Indiglo” watch face activated by a push of the crown, and thoughtfully it remains activated for as long as the crown is pressed, thus saving battery 🔋 power! Finally the green rubber strap with the Timex buckle In highly polished stainless steel is a really nice feature, complementing and matching the green highlights on the watch as it does. Timex have produced another simply stunning excellent watch with this watch. I can highly recommend it 😀"
