Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

- it's a shame there aren't more colour options for the strap, such as the red used on the Peanuts watches, I wonder how loudly this watch ticks? I've bought other brands of analog watches and they tick loudly (in the work I do, I don't need to be distracted by a loudly ticking watch), or maybe these types of watches are loud because they tick (of course) - they're not digital! many thanks,

While ticking is normal for analog watches, Timex designs them to be comfortable for everyday wear. We appreciate your thoughtful feedback on strap colors and ticking concerns.
