Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"Arrived after a few false starts eg emailed on the 6th to say it was arriving on the 5th, eventually arriving on the 8th. On arrival discovered that it was faulty straight out of the box. Then had to go round the houses of the website to get it returned. I believe up to 10 days after they receive the faulty watch i’ll get my money back minus the cost of returning the watch. My previous Timex i had for 20+ years, after this experience it may be my last."
