- Hi Evan! Thanks so much for reaching out — and congratulations on your new Expedition Gallatin Solar watch. If it’s not ticking right out of the box, it likely just needs a good charge. Since it’s solar-powered, place the watch under direct sunlight for at least 5 to 8 hours to activate the movement. Indoor lighting can help too, but natural sunlight is much more effective for the initial charge. Once charged, the second hand should begin moving steadily.
