Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

The expandable band is the
"The expandable band is the standout feature. Super easy to slip on and off with no fiddling. It can snag wrist hair, but that’s the exception, not the rule. Resizing the band is basically a no-go, so you’re stuck with the stock fit. On smaller wrists (around 6. 5–7"), it wears loose and light, which may or may not be your thing. The black-on-white dial is clean and highly legible, with the red 24-hour numerals adding some character; even if they push it slightly toward cluttered. I’m a fan of the day/date complication (old digital habits die hard), but it’s annoying when the hands partially block the window. Top or bottom placement would’ve been a smarter choice. Indiglo is as good as ever. Nice and even, only on while pressed, with a small dead spot at the very top of the dial. The 30m water resistance is the weak point. It’s barely hand-washing safe and not something you’d trust in wet outdoor conditions."
